Students should consult their advisors for specific assistance with ethical clearance of project protocols. Advisors are responsible for ensuring that students have the appropriate clearance for their projects.
Research that is conducted using sound ethical principles is good science. Conforming to ethical principles is also a mandatory part of research at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.
The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences has a strong commitment to fostering students' and staff's understanding of research ethics. Where the project involves interventions or procedures that expose participants to risk that exceeds standard practice, this should be submitted to the appropriate central University ethics committee.
For projects that will be conducted at The University of Queensland: The full protocol as per University's research ethics committees (Medical Research Ethics Committee (MREC) guidelines, is to be submitted.
Research proposals of PhD students and staff must be examined by the University's research ethics committees (Medical Research Ethics Committee (MREC), Behavioural and Social Sciences Ethics Research Committee (BSSERC),and the University Animal Experimentation Ethics Committee (UAEC).
Please consult The
University of Queensland guidelines for detailed ethical review
information.
