Dr Sandra Brauer
BPhty(Hons), PhD
Research/teaching interests: Neuromotor contributors
to balance and gait dysfunction in older adults and people with neurological
deficits, particularly the role of cognitive processing and motor control.
Investigations involve people with known neurological deficits to determine
the role and impact of cognitive processing on balance, gait and function.
Physiological, biomechanical and behavioural methods are used. This
research also aims to direct the development of sensitive clinical tools
for the assessment of balance dysfunction and to provide evidence for
the development of intervention programs to improve balance, gait and
function in persons with dysfunction, including elderly fallers, and
people with stroke, brain injury and Parkinsons Disease.
