Community

The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences has an enviable record for providing education and service to the community. It has ongoing interactive links with government, health and education bodies, other universities and the general public.

• The School conducts the UQ Health and Rehabilitation Clinics, which currently undertake over 35,000 occasions of service per year.   The clinics are provided by the School through its divisions of audiology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech pathology.
   
• In our School, many of our academic staff provide services in the clinics, as part of their role in the School, or conduct professional education for the professional community. The school recognises that its activities and resources represent a remarkable state and national resource.  
   
• The Business & Community Unit has undertaken a workshop program for health and education professionals in relation to literacy, and to date over 3,600 individuals have attended.

The future plans of the school include:

1. Establishing strategic partnerships that mutually serve the interest of the school and its stakeholders;
2. Championing the role of education and research in underpinning the economic health and social wellbeing of local, state and international communities;
3. Maintaining and developing the school’s role as a provider of specialist services to the community through its clinics and educational activities.
