Hello, I am Gordon. I am 66 years old.
I did not know what aphasia
was until I had a stroke.
I was renovating the house when I had a stroke.
I was in hospital for a week, was sent home and then I had a second
stroke.
About
aphasia
I can think of a word but can't say it!
When I'm tired I can't speak so well...but
when I'm fit I can practically speak all the time.
I need more sleep. Your life changes.
I need quiet. I can't concentrate with alot of noise.
I can speak alright but I need time to present a
conversation piece.

Question: What can people
do to help?
Answer:
Listen, listen, listen!
If I am given enough time,
I can carry out a conversation, but people tend to be rushed.
If they want a conversation
with me, they need to slow down!
Question:
What can I do to help myself?
Answer:
Coming to the aphasia group gives me the most incentive to improve.
Question: What sort things
make me feel better?
Answer: I need to be busy- in my
framing business or doing something.
